Emergencies & Disaster Prevention
Disaster prevention
It's all about being prepared
Earthquakes, typhoons, tsunamis... They are all realities that people living in Japan for a long time will come to know eventually. Of course, they are all potentially very dangerous natural disasters, yet we can still substantially reduce their impact by being prepared.
In order to be prepared in case of natural disasters, it is best to:
- Learn the essential information about disaster prevention
- Always have emergency items ready at home and at the workplace
- Know where the nearest evacuation areas are located
Evacuation areas
When major natural disasters strike, it is sometimes necessary to leave your home or workplace and evacuate to a safer place. In order to facilitate this process, the city of Onomichi has designated several evacuation areas and it is strongly recommended that you learn the location of the ones closest to the places where you live and conduct your daily activities.
