Located on the coast of the Seto inland sea, Onomichi has prospered since ancient times as a port where
“the tide stops,” where the tide from the east joins that from the west. Because the current slows down in this area, the waters are
rich in small fish. As a result, Onomichi's food culture is characterized by unique, small fish specialities. In order to preserve this food culture,
as well as teaching people about it, a variety of events and campaigns are held every year in fall under the title of “Gourmet Umi no Inshoha
(Gourmet Impressionism) Onomichi”.
