Ikuo Hirayama Museum of Art

The Japanese painter Ikuo Hirayama says, "My original scenery is always mountain, sea and set of islands. I was greatly influenced by my home town.&

Ikuo Hirayama Museum of Art is a one-story ferroconcrete building over 80 meters long. The gable roofs are used to create a Japanese-style museum.
There are 3 exhibition rooms, Hi-Vision room, the installation site of painting coverage map and his abbreviated chronology panel.

  Ikuo Hirayama
Ikuo Hirayama was born in Setoda in 1930 and graduated from the Nihonga course of the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music in 1952. His work "Ieji (Route Home)" won his first award at the 38th Japan Fine Arts Institute Exhibition in 1953. In 1964, he was elected a member of Japan Art Institute. In 1967, he participated in copying the art on the walls of the Golden Pavilion at Horyu-ji temple. In 1973, he participated in copying the wall painting at the ancient tombs of Takamatsu-zuka. At present, he is chairman of the Japan Art Institute, a UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador, chairman of Japanese National Commission for UNESCO and the presidency of the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music. He was awarded the Order of Culture in 1988. His main works include "Bukkyo Denrai", "The Travels of Marco Polo", Hiroshima Seihen-zu", Gekka Itsukushima", "Yakushi-ji Genjo Sanzo-in Daito Seiiki Mural", etc.
